The Trevor James Alpha sax is specifically designed and optimized for children from 7 to 12 years. It's mechanism is adapted to the reduced span of children's hands, yet so relaxed and effortless to play the instrument.
Because of the Eb tuning a later change to a traditional alto sax is easily possible, without having to learn everything all over again.

The mechanism has some specific details:
- No D#, E and F keys on the left hand
- High D-key ergonomically adapted
- No low B and Bb keys
- Wingspan right keys adjusted
- Range of over 2 octaves (low C tm. High D)
- Weight reduction of 33%
